Housewife retro style

I love participating in the challenge over at Twofers as they force me to use my stash of rubber stamps. You're not required to make more than one project, in spite of the name.
So far I've used a few NBUS ones, like today's housewife stamp, which I love but had never used. I believe I got her one or two years ago during a craft fair. She's from Lost Coast Design if I'm not mistaken. And I think she has something 1950s about her...

I cut a DP with spots into three panels and adhered the pieces onto a panel of black and gold card stock. Then I die cut a piece if vellum and heat embossed with gold using a sentiments stamp from LOTV. I also added three bling and a die cut banner as I felt the card was busy enough with the background of spots showing through the vellum. I had planned to add something red too, but I changed plans and added the bling instead.

This card is for these challenges:
Twofers -#5 Vintage/Retro
A Gem of a Challenge - spots and /or stripes
Crafty Friends Challenge - gems/pearls
Crafty Catz - #296 Embossing

  1. I really love this background, the paper and vellum with the gold sentiment would work on their own as a card! But I have to say I also think this image is fabulous, it is so detailed and yes so 50s. Have a good week x

  3. I see the 1950s connection. Apparently back then an apron and a broom made a woman feel fabulous at home! Nowadays we need, stamps, glitter, sequins, dies, stamps, pretty powders, pastes and large well-stocked, perfectly organised craft room. Keeping it monochrome certainly adds to the retro look. FAB card, Pia!

  5. Very 1950s, with that check apron and the fluffy slippers, and keeping it monochrome had added to the retro effect. Super take on our challenge at Twofers.

  32. Definitely invokes the '50-s...I remember aprons and brooms. And it's a wonderful look in the vintage tones with no coloring too. I like the bold gold lettered sentiment on the vellum over the underlaying design of circles & the rectangle sections. Very modern touch with the vintage lady...great composition. TFS & Hugs

  34. Hi, Pia! I so admire your use of Vintage images. This design is especially pretty with the dotted background and the vellum on top of it! The thin black matting against the 3 panels really brings it all together. I never think of doing that with my designs. I'm inspired by how you innovatively utilized the different shapes and off-the-page image with your black and white theme! Hope your week has been a good one! hugs, de

  36. So creative, Pia! All the details in the layers, and she (Miss Stamp) topped it off with the perfect sentiment! I love this card-- a definite winner! She's almost 1930s to me... I love old-fashioned women! Great card.
