My card today is made with a sketch and a color scheme as main inspiration sources. I started die cutting the feathers. There was actually 4 of them, but the 4th one didn't fit in on the panel. Next I colored the feathers using blue, brown and white gelatos, brown DI and some frantage with blue shimmer. Then I stamped a sentiment onto the white card base. But I didn't feel right, it feld bland and empty ut not CAS. I left the project for a couple of hours, made the brown panel with another project in mind, but decided to try it with the feathers on. The brown panel was made with paint and I just pressed a stamp with circles (from Kaisercraft) into the paint on the panel (my dip element for Inkspirational), I think it gave the panel a textured look. I heat embossed a sentiment and tore the edges of the paper. Now, this card is more CAS than what I usually make, but I don't know if there enough "space" for this card to qualify as CAS? I'll leave that for you to decide:)
This card is for:
CAS(E) This Sketch! - #184 Sketch
Less Is More - #288 Blue & Brown
Inkspirational - #114 DIP
Happy Little Stampers - AG with dies August
Lovely vintage feel Pia. Fabulous feathers.

I think it's definitely CAS, Pia, and it's absolutely gorgeous! The feathers are so beautifully done - I like the variation in colour! The brown panel with torn edges is perfect for your card design!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card. Filled with texture and rich colours - beautiful! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome Pia. Love the feathers, the colouring is awesome. I love how you walk away and come back and then all goes perfect. I just get annoyed and frustrated and it all goes pear shaped as we say in the UK.

Oh my!! This is just a masterpiece, Pia!!! Fabulous feathers, they have a very realistic look!!! Just stunning! And awesome background with these stamped circles, before reading I thought it was embossed! It has the look of a piece of old leather, that matches perfectly with the feathers!! And the edges torned... great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that this is just perfect as masculine card, so difficult to make for me!
I think it's a CAS, thereis a lot of white space, even if the eyes are catched to the center, anyway I LOVE, love your piece of art so much!
Pinned, immediately! :D

Big hugs!!
Woooo! Leave it to you, Pia, to come up with something so phenomenal after being dissatisfied. LOL The textures from the stamp-in-paint brown background look amazing! That is a great design tip, I hope to remember long enough to try LOL
ReplyDeleteThe white embossed sentiment is beautiful! It brings out the delicate colors in the feathers. As for CAS - I do think it qualifies because it is not cluttered - but I could not have considered it case. Mostly it looks classy to me, and like an expensive looking mat around your prettily embellished feathers! I have pinned your masterpiece hoping to remember the background and textures on the feathers.
Beautiful artwork! I always look forward to seeing something new on your blog.

Hi Pia, sorry not been around much, lots going on here but good to see you at Ink. I love your thinking on this card, leaving it for a few hours was a good idea as the brown base worked so well with the colouring of the feathers....love the shimmer frantage. Also the distresses edges and the way you added the textured look to the panel gives the whole card an earthy look. Not sure on the CAS side, still thinking on that, perhaps could be more CAS with less feathers but I think this would not look so dramatic. Thanks for joining Ink x
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous Pia, a great background and beautiful feathers - lovely colours.

The brown background was a brilliant choice for these delicately colored feathers. (ah yes, you used frontage! It looks so nice!). Enlarging the photo shows off the circles of your stamp...I'd have thought it was a stencil creating that pattern. What an excellent way to create the background! Also love the torn paper...this is such a beautiful card. Well done, Pia! TFS & Hugs
