Sentiment as main feature

This card almost ended up in the bin - several times.
It started out with me not finding my big, bold LOTV sentiments. They're therr, somewhere, in my creative chaos room. So I opted for a sentiment from Marianne, it comes in different parts, this was the first time I used them all together. I stamped it with purple ink. I wanted to make something folkloric like, but for that I should have heat set the sentiment. So change of heart. I took out some yellow and a gold gelato. The gold was a mistake, big time. Toss it? No, had to try and cover it up by adding purple gelato and adding a coat of gesso. The stamping around the edges is also part of that cover up job, I used a leaf and flower stamp from Fiskars (NBUS) and used brown, green, orange and red inks. I let it all dry before I added Perfect Pearls for a shimmery look and made my liquid pearls. I attached the panel onto a panel of gold mirri card and attached it to a black card base.

This card is for:
Twofers - #26 Stamped sentiment as main feature
City Crafter Challenge - #325 It's all about You
Crafty Creations - #322 Words/Letters on the Background
Darnell's NBUS Challenge - #7

  3. this card may have caused you lots of problems but the finished result is beautiful, the muted tones are very effective and the stamping round the edges a perfect finishing touch.

  7. Nobody can see all the "mistakes" that you found. This card has a very interesting look with all these shimmer, shades and textures! It is so light, too! Your choice of cover all with purple gelato and gesso has been a winning. This sentiment is stunning, I'm so glad you haven't founded the LTV one :D

  19. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with your card, Pia. LOVE the vintage / aged / retro look. Glad you didn't bin it. But I know what you mean - we are our worst critics. We must learn to reclassify our "mistakes" as design quirks. Easier said than done! LOL. I'm glad you preserved this card for our viewing pleasure.

  26. This is gorgeous, Pia, so glad that you didn't bin it! I love the fall colours and the wonderful stamped leaves. That's a great sentiment too! I just realized I don't think I've ever done a sentiment-focused card, but then again I don't have any fabulous sentiments like this!

  27. Lol, your post is making me shake my head with you...
    You: "Toss it?"
    Me: (shaking head "Nooooo...")
Way to persevere! You ended up with a cool, aged look. Reminds me of old Italy or colonial USA.

  28. Hi, Pia! Love the story of your creative process, and the unfruitful search for LOTV sentiments. Sounds like my way of putting things together. I feel your pain. LOL and then you had to keep going back to the drawing board for colors! Yes, I have been there, too. But never has my fiasco turned out as beautifully as this gorgeous card! And I vLOVE the sentiment! Hugs, de
