Three Boys on a Horse

This image has been on my work desk for some time, I've been waiting for the right sketch to pop up as I've been lacking ideas for a layout to suit this image.
For the background I used corrugated paper which I gave a coat of white gesso. I sanded the pattern of the beige embossed paper with stars. The sentiment is cut out from a DP. A bit of texture was added with string and cheesecloth. I stitched around the edges using brown thread and added 3 star shaped brads.

    Fantastic vintage card Pia..love the image..reminds me of my brothers riding "Dordy" our grangmothers horse.[100 yrs ago..lol..]love the papers and the 'rope'...fabulous.

    Oh my! This is reminds me of my Dad as a young boy. They had horses to ride into town and there are family photos much like this one!

    Love it...such memories youhave given me tonight He was 12 miles from the nearest town which was maybe 100 people!

    Love the corrugated with the gesso...looks fabulous...and the embossed stars and best of all the lasso!!!
    Later in life, my Dad switched to raising 3 Day Event horses and so we never had lasso's on the farm.

    You were right to be patient, Pia, because this sketch is excellent. I love how you put Gesso on the corrugated paper, but the thing that made me swoon was that rolled twine! What perfect punctuation for your design!! Hugs, Darnell
