Sketch #909

Today starts a new sketch challenge over at Catch the Bug.
I went with a monster theme, using an image from Mini Set - Monster blocks, it makes me think of Nessie, the monster of Loch Ness. I think he (or is it  a she?) works for a birthday card for a young boy.
I used different shades of green and teal, spots and stripes. I used a white Posca pen to add detials to the image and a black one for the DP.

Flower bee for Freebie Friday

Happy Friday! I'm here to show you my card featuring the Freebie Friday -  you can pick it up at no cost in the Bugaboo store.

I chose to fussy cut my bee and place it at an angle.

The background is stenciled, I used a brush - I very much prefer it to the sponges - and white and gold ink.

I heat set the sentiment with white embossing powder.

Twofer #27 Leaves

These are my two cards for the Twofer Card Challenge #37, for both cards I used a leaf stamp from Concord & 9th, I made a with sympathy card and a card that can be used for any occasion where you'd like to wish someone a lovely day, like for a birthday.

1) WITH SYMPATHY CARD
I stamped the leaves black and heat set with clear embossing powder before masking off a strip at the top and bottom. I used a brush with blue DI and gold ink to make the background. I used a die from Concord & 9th die cut parts of the leaves for a dimensional effect, but I didn't capture that so well in the photo.

2) BIRTHDAY/WISHING YOU A LOVELY DAY CARD
While I chose a diagonal layout for the sympathy card, here I went vertical. I stamped with green ink, masked, brushed on Speckled egg Distress Oxide and added Perfect Pearls on top. I think it has the same effct as vellum. The butterflies however were embossed on vellum, fussy cut and glued to the card base. The sentiment is versatile - wishing you a lovely day

Ink # 237 - Taxi photo

For our new challenge at Inkspirational we have a great photo for you to pick inspiration from. I loved the colors and I immeditaly thought of this masculine stamp from Lost Cost Designs.

I used Squeezed lemonade and Mustard seed Distress Oxide inks and some different sized triangle shaped stamps, the shapes got lost when spritzing with water. The sentiment translates "even youthful men like you have birthdays every years".
I used grey ink and a script stamp randomly and added 3 yellow pearls.

Foiled background

Earlier this year, during a major lack of mojo period, I watched some videos on YouTube where foil and a laminator were used. I got inspired, got the equipment needed and made a lot of backgrounds. This purple plaid background was part of the first batch I made.

I used a stencil, cat stamp and sentiment , all from Tim Holtz. The stamps are part of a Christnas set, I might use this a Christmas card, but I think it would work for other occassions/seasons as well? What do you think?

The cat reminds me of my mother and sister, they are always freezing. I, on the other hand, am on the other end of the scale.

Sewing theme in pink

Today starts a new sketch challenge over at Catch the Bug.
I went with a sewing theme in all pink, using the image Stella sewing - Thread. All other stamps used are from the same set, which came free with a magazine several years ago. I gave the stamped buttons a thick coat of glossy accent.
I also added lace, string and metal scissors from my stash.

Ink # 236 - Grow

For our Inkspirational challenge this fortnight we have a word prompt: GROW.

I decided on using a digi from A Day for Daisies, colored with Promarkers. The cream paper was embossed, then I put together the scene with the fussy cut image, diverse flowers and pearls and some leftover elements from other projects.

Please head over to the challenge blog to see the wonderful makes of my INK-teamies.
