Pirate and parrot

I'm here to share my DT card for the new "Stella Says Sketch" challenge that starts today over at Catch the Bug.

I used an image called AKV Pirate parrot, colored with Promarkers and fussy cut it.The background is made by using a honeycomb like embossing folder as stamp, I sponged the background with DI and finally used a Prima map stamp and black ink. I cut a out a part with a Dienmaics banner die, layered it onto a black one and onto the leftover of my own made paper. A leftover piece of a Maja Design paper and jute paper was used. The banner was die cut, inked and stamped, and I used a black pen to make the lines along the edges.

This card is also for:
Crafting By Designs - 3 or More Layers
Craft Rocket Challenges - #11 Anything Goes
Send a Smile for Kids - For the boys

Putting the black banner frame onto the "map" and the image in that point, plus the "floor", you have create a sense of perpective, wow wow! The pirate pop out very well!
The little banner shape with the sentiment is just perfect with the black lines and love the touch of the juta! Fun card, but so gorgous!

I like cute pirates much better than the fierce looking ones, and this guy's a winner. Love the background, and how interesting to read how you created it. Also like the texture of the burlap and the black stitched frames. Good idea to use the burlap to add some dimension to that top layer. Must remember that, It's not only a good design look, but I like the 'lift' it appears to give the 2 top layers. Also just noticed the fishtail finish with the pirate overhanging another layer! TFS & Hugs

Wow, Pia! Your paper looks awesome-- the honeycomb and the map... You are a creative genius, as I always say to you! I really love the way you stretched the LO to make it fit your little pirate. And that burlap just tops of the antique feel. Finally, I LOVE that banner!!!
