One layer Christmas Card

A really simple card from me today, but it took me forever to make it, if you take into account the 4 attempts that all ended in the trash bin. I'm clearly not a one layer crafter, but that's what the ladies over at Ink wants to see this fortnight so here goes:)

Being inspired by the Sweet Sunday sketch for my final attempt I masked off the the white space using masking tape, stamped the Magnolia image and used clear embossing powder to make sure the ink wouldn't create a mess once starting sponging the blue sky.
Then I colored thre tree using a paintbrush and distress ink pads. The white ground is covered with WOS, but I couldn't capture the sparkle in the photo.

I stamped a Christmas greeting, but kind of regret that I did. I should have left it without a sentiment, but not being very keen on starting on a 6th onelayer card I'm going with it as it is now.

This card is for these challenges:
Inkspirational - One layer card
The Sweetest Thing - #284 Sketch
Addicted to CAS - Blue
August Rudolph Days challenge

I have to say, Pia, that the one-layer card is the toughest for me, but you have aced it! This is gorgeous and thanks for sharing how you did it. I agree, I think it would have looked just fine without any sentiment at all, but I do like the sentiment. Beautiful card!

I am so pleased you joined in with our challenge at Ink, especially as I know one layer is not your 'go to' style. Saying that, this is a wonder. Your masking is perfect and I love that you made it an Xmas card. Thanks so much for joining Ink x

Oh wow I think is just amazing for your one layer design!! I love that fun image and your background is gorgeous!! :) CAS designs are not as easy as what it may "appear" to look like...so I can completely relate to your trash bin experience!! :) Please keep making them, I love this one!! Thanks for sharing! HUGS

Can't see my original comment...but perhaps you have not released it yet. i was typing the first one on my ipad as we have had a terrible storm here and had no power or internet at home or in the towns around us since Friday lunchtime.
My ipad died at the end of that comment to you so not sure if it released sent or not! I had no way to recharge it till the power came back on a while ago! Whew! Thank goodness...
Your card is so nice. I love the misty, etheareal look of that geautiful background and so suits the tree image.

Thanks for taking part in the August Rudolph Days Challenge.

This is awesome Pia. The same happens with me, the simpler the look of the card the hard it is.

I actually like it with the sentiment - it gives some 'grounding' to the bottom of the card. The scene you've made is beautiful. I have been there with having to keep binning the olcs! As I hate wasting the unused part of the card blank, I often end up cheating, just using a panel and then when I'm happy just adding a card back by creating a hinge! Thank you for joining us at Inkspirational Challenges. Come back next time! Marina

    Big hugs to you,

You totally aced the OLC challenge, Pia. This is absolutely stunning. I get that it takes forever to make these so-called simple cards. At least to persevered. I would have chucked it out on the 2nd attempt! :)
